“I made the bold decision to leave my medical studies behind after discovering a deep passion for lighting design that I just couldn’t ignore. At IIED, Lloyd Sir transformed my enthusiasm into expertise, guiding me from basic principles to advanced console operations with invaluable hands-on training. Today, I am living my dream as an Event Designer and Lighting Technician at Disneyland Hong Kong, where I handle the lighting for their most captivating shows. My journey proves that with the right mentorship, you can turn an unconventional path into a world-class career.”

“I was already working in the lighting industry, but I felt like there was a missing link in my technical foundation that was holding me back from the next level. Joining IIED allowed me to dive deep into the intricate details and technicalities of light, which completely transformed my professional perspective. By mastering the core principles I had previously overlooked, I gained the confidence to handle large-scale, complex designs. This shift in expertise led to an incredible international placement with SLS Production in Saudi Arabia. Now, I am working on world-class projects, proving that a strong foundation is the ultimate launchpad for a global career.”

“I took the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and turned it into an opportunity by learning lighting design under Lloyd Sir’s mentorship. Even with the challenges of that time, the training was so rigorous and industry-focused that it prepared me perfectly for the global stage. Those sessions built the technical foundation I needed to transition from a student into high-end international entertainment. Now, I’m traveling the world and working with Royal Caribbean, the biggest cruise line in the industry, handling lighting for their massive productions. It’s incredible to see how a journey that started during a lockdown has led me to a career on the high seas.”

“Growing up with a family that owns one of Mumbai’s largest AVL rental companies, I was always around the gear, but my dad knew I needed a professional edge. He sent me to Lloyd Sir, insisting he is the best in the business, to ensure I built a proper technical foundation. The education I received at IIED completely transformed my understanding of the science and artistry behind the equipment we provide. Today, those design principles and technical skills are helping me drive our business forward with much more precision and confidence. I’m proud to bring this expert foundation back to our family company to elevate the standard of every show we handle.”

“I traveled from a small town near Calcutta to IIED in Mumbai with a big dream but a lot of fear because I wasn’t good at English. However, Lloyd Sir and my peers never let that become a barrier, supporting me every day until the language of light became my strongest skill. Their mentorship helped me look past my insecurities and focus on mastering the technical side of stagecraft and design. Thanks to that constant encouragement, I’ve officially started my professional career with Stagegear, a leading rental company in Mumbai. My journey proves that if you have the passion to learn, IIED will give you the tools to succeed regardless of where you start.”

“Operating a light rental company in Pune, I knew I had the equipment, but I realized I was missing the deep foundational knowledge required to truly master my craft. I committed to traveling from Pune for every lecture at IIED because I wanted to learn the ‘why’ behind the light, not just the ‘how.’ That dedication paid off; I transitioned from simply providing gear to personally operating major shows with total confidence. The course gave me a professional understanding of industry-leading lighting fixtures and, more importantly, the technical precision to run my business more efficiently. Today, I don’t just rent out lights—I design and execute high-end experiences that have elevated my company’s reputation across the region.”

“After completing my graduation, I realized I wanted a career that combined technical precision with creative flair, which led me straight to IIED. The hands-on training and mentorship I received here were game-changers, bridging the gap between being a student and becoming an industry professional. Because of the specialized skills I gained, I was able to secure a high-growth placement as a Lighting Designer at a top production firm. Today, I’m not just designing; I’m crafting atmospheres for major events and loving every minute of it. Choosing to upskill here was the best investment I’ve made for my future.”

“I spent years as a sound engineer, but I always felt a pull toward the visual world of lighting design that I couldn’t ignore. Finding IIED in Mumbai was the turning point where I finally mastered the technical side of lighting under Lloyd Sir’s mentorship. Upon graduating, I actually received a significant offer from a global production company, but I knew my heart was set on working specifically within the lighting industry. I chose passion and direct mentorship over a corporate title, ultimately joining Lloyd Sir’s own team at LGL Designs. Now, I’m exactly where I belong—designing light for the biggest stages alongside the very person who taught me the craft.”

“Growing up watching my dad play guitar in his band, I was always more fascinated by the lights dancing across the stage than the music itself. That early spark led me to IIED, where I finally learned the technical ‘how’ behind the magic I witnessed as a kid. The course broke down complex stagecraft into actionable skills, giving me the foundation to turn my childhood fascination into a professional career. Today, I work as a freelance Lighting Designer, creating the same atmosphere and energy for performers that once inspired me from the wings of my dad’s shows.”

“I started my journey in audio mixing and media production, but everything changed when I assisted with a few basic event lighting setups and discovered a deep interest in stagecraft. Realizing I wanted to move from behind the camera to behind the console, I joined IIED to professionalize my passion for lighting design. The training allowed me to merge my media background with technical lighting design, giving me the tools to build immersive visual experiences. This specialized skillset opened the door to an incredible professional opportunity at LumaSonic, Goa, where I now work as a Lighting Designer. My journey is proof that your previous production skills can be the perfect foundation for a new career in light.”

“I was working as a freelance event manager, but the part of every show that pulled me in was the lighting. I wanted to learn it properly, and I knew the person to learn it from was Lloyd Sir. At IIED, he took me from the basics of fixtures and colour all the way to programming cues on a console, with hands-on practice at every step. That training turned a side interest into a real profession. Today, I work as an Assistant Lighting Programmer at Fireflies Creative Technologies in Mumbai, programming lighting for live shows and events. IIED helped me move from managing events to lighting them.”

“I had already spent two to three years in the lighting industry as an operator, but I knew that operating was only half the craft. I wanted a proper education in lighting design so I could create bigger, more ambitious shows of my own. That ambition brought me all the way from Raipur to Mumbai to train at IIED. The course filled the gaps in my knowledge, from design principles and plotting to building a complete show, and gave my years of field experience a solid foundation. Today, I work as a Lighting Operator & Designer at Show Genesis in Mumbai, handling shows from plot design to setup, execution and show-running.”

“I didn’t even know lighting design was a career option until I came across it, and the moment I did, I was hooked. The idea that light can shape the mood of an entire show fascinated me, so I joined IIED to learn it from the ground up. The training took me through fixtures, plotting, programming and live operation with hands-on practice, until designing a show started to feel natural. That foundation gave me the confidence to step straight into the industry. Today, I work as a Lighting Operator & Designer at Show Genesis in Mumbai, where I handle everything from plot design to setup, execution and show-running.”

The training was practical and focused completely on how events actually work. Today I’m an Assistant Manager in the Events & Experience team at NMACC, and I use those CAD skills on every project I handle, from planning spaces to sharing drawings with production teams. I went from assisting to leading the visualization of grand weddings, proving that specialized education is the fastest way to elevate your career.”
